Stay Focused on God

Stay Focused on God

Our plans, dreams, and ultimate goals for life get changed sometimes. Our day to day lives can be changed in the blink of an eye. We go through things that we didn't see coming. Feeling hopeless or having our hopes for the future crushed can be devastating, we grieve the loss of our dreams and plans, the loss of the way we thought things would and should be. We like to feel in control but many things that will happen in life will be beyond our control. Grieving for these lost dreams and plans is a natural emotion. Unfortunately, almost always grief brings along something else, something that is also a natural emotion, anger. Anger is a phase in the grief process. In many instances our anger gets directed at God. We blame Him for allowing things to happen, allowing things to get off track and go wrong.

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

A mind stayed on God because we trust Him should be our deepest desire. God wants our honesty- even when it's anger directed at Him. Of course, He can handle our roller coaster of emotions, He is our great Creator. While we're on this roller coaster, He stays with us and gives us the grace to deal with things one day at a time. Things like unexpected changes, shattered dreams, and ruined plans for the future. We have to understand our path is going to be redirected so many times while we walk on this earth. We are going to feel like our lives are falling apart because in our grief and despair we can't see that God still has a plan. If we stay focused on Him our peace will be restored, it may not look the way we hoped and planned for but with God there will be peace and grace that allows us to accept the new, unplanned things- in many cases these redirections will come and bless our lives.

God can always be trusted, and He is more than capable of loving us through our raw and honest emotions. We just have to STAY FOCUSED ON HIM!
