A Light for the Path

We've all bought items that require assembly. I do not like the assembly part; I prefer to just leave the house and have Shawn and/or the boys put whatever it is together while I'm out. I am one that has often struggled with instructions, especially when I think I can see and know a better way. In my defense, I will say that I am a 'trainable' person. For example, there are certain tasks that I wouldn't want to do without receiving instructions first. That being said, I will admit that I have complicated some of the simplest things in life because I wasn't following God's instructions step by step. My faith gets shaken, fear and doubt creep in, and I'd really just like to avoid failure at all costs. I don't have time for delays and setbacks. You see, I like to get a step ahead, and think I'm smarter than God's plans for me. Ouch. That's a hard truth to admit. God has given us this lamp (His word) and it is meant to light our paths. Can it be that simple? YES! But can it be that simple when I'm in a hurtful, hard spot? The answer is still, YES! If you get the instruction book (BIBLE) out and take a look, you'll see it's in those moments that our faith has to increase.

It is human nature to want all the answers, we like having our plans decided and each step figured out. Then when an unexpected curve ball hits us, we fall apart. That's how fragile humanity is! God knows how small, and fragile mankind is, He made a way for us! He made a way for our salvation, He provides us escape for temptations, and He gave us a book full of instructions on how to live for Him on earth and most importantly how to be united with Him when we leave this earth.

Trying to navigate life without God's word is a guarantee for failure.
